This is how working project looks like after creating the edgings.
Now we have to draw the boundaries of the internal space. On the picture below they are shown in blue.
There are several ways to draw the borders in these conditions.
- In this lesson we have already seen how to draw using the line drawing dialog.
- Just draw the line, as described in the reference manual.
In this case we will have to trace the outline of the layout. For this purpose we need to accurately
hit the mouse to the reference points, which is not easy to do at a small scale. In a large scale
the ends of the reference line may be beyond the screen and drawing a line from end to end will be impossible.
- In order to solve the problem mentioned above it is convenient to draw using the mini display.
So we create a new project. Draw the contours by one of the depicted ways, save a project named
"Inner space" and choose a pattern for it "Crosses 100x200 (simple pattern) ".
Pattern will appear in the upper left corner of the draft.
Set the starting point

in the lower left corner and fill the tiles

.
Now you need
to paint the tiles. Pre-read how to create and
save
custom colors for later use.
Suppose colors have been created, as it is written. We need to load them into the project.
Zoom in to make it clearer.
We will paint the limited fragment by pattern. This pattern will be spread over the whole project
space. Mentally (
mentally!) divide the space into equal parts. At first sight you need to divide the
space into rectangles which are equal to the pattern size.
But let's look more closely. Fragments in the even rows are not the same fragments as in the odd rows.
Here tiles are stacked in different ways. So you won’t spread the color pattern on all the fragments.
In fact, it is necessary to share like this:
Or like this:
Choose the first option. Choose the tool "Highlight tile"

and select the tile.
Choose the same tiles in the neighboring fragments in two different directions.
(For
two - because the fragments are located in the cells of
rectangular grid.
If we fill the field by hexagonal tiles, the fragments will lie in the cells of the hexagonal grid,
and from the first selected tile we’ll have to specify the allocation of the remaining tiles in three different directions).
Click "Multiply selection"

.
Open the color selection dialog

and select our first
created color.
All selected tiles will change color and stay highlighted:
Click "Drop selection"

. Get the colored tiles all over the space:
Repeat the same procedure for the second tile of the pattern. Select:
Choose a color:
Drop the selection and get:
Repeat the same for the remaining two tiles of the pattern, color by the remaining two colors.
Reduce the scale and estimate the project.
It looks not good enough.
Now we are going to remake it. At first you need to clear the tiles from the coloring. There are two ways to do it:
- Radical. Remove all the tiles
and complete the project again.
- Assign the default gray color to all tiles.
Let’s consider the second method. Choose the tool "Select tile"

and
draw out all the tiles with the mouse while holding the left mouse button:
When we release the mouse button in the right-bottom corner, all the tiles will be selected:
Remember that active project we have now is "Inner space." Therefore, its tiles were selected only,
although we covered everything by mouse including edging tiles.
Open the color select dialog and choose the tiles color by default.
Tiles group coloring
Choose a larger scale for the convenient work with tiles selection.
To get a more beautiful color pattern, it is necessary to choose the larger fragments.
Or like this:
We will paint by the first type. Select the tiles as shown below, at first select
the most left upper tile:
Click "Remember selected tiles"

. Tiles are selected in red,
and the first of them excels in green:
It means that the selected tiles formed a group, and the first tile has become the
bearing tile of a group. Select the bearing tiles in the neighboring fragments.
They are located in their fragments in the same place where the bearing tile in its fragment.
Click "Multiply selection"

. The groups of tiles will be selected throughout the space.
Open the color selection dialog

and select our first
created color.
Click "Drop selection"

. Get the colored tiles around the space:
Color tiles in the pattern by the second color. Repeat the same steps. Select the tile:
Click "Remember selected tiles"

. Select the neighboring fragments bearing tiles.
Click "Multiply selection"

. Throughout the space the groups of tiles will be selected.
Open the color selection dialog

and select a second color.
After that, drop the selection and we get the following picture.
Select the tiles in the pattern for a third color and paint them.
Select the tiles in the pattern for the fourth color and paint them.
Finally we get such an intricate coloring.
Save the project after all the changes!
Save a set of projects with the "Save set"!
Proceed to filling the
squares.
